Cabo Deep Sea Fishing Marlin

Today, Cabo deep sea fishing for marlin is considered by many anglers to be the pinnacle of offshore sport fishing, due to their power and size and also the elusiveness of the four marlin species. In the past, significant skill and resources were required to find, hook, and land marlin, mainly the largest black and blue marlin. These skills today, are assisted by modern technology, predominantly the fast and seaworthy vessels, which have the range, speed, and seaworthiness to reach distant offshore fishing grounds, and are armed with state-of-the-art fish-finding and navigation electronic aids.

Cabo Deep Sea Fishing Tuna

Pound for pound, the blackfin tuna could be known as the middle weight champion of Cabo fishing in Cabo San Lucas. These open ocean predators are fast, strong and capable of long, drag-melting runs.

This species, found in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, travels in schools, like mahi-mahi, and will often feed on the surface, slamming everything from live bait to artificial flies, making this fish the prey of choice for many Cabo fishing charters.

Cabo Deep Sea Fishing Sailfish

The Cabo Pacific Sailfish inhabits subtropical and tropical waters close to landmasses, typically in depths over 6 fathoms, but sometimes caught in lesser depths and from ocean piers. Migratory and pelagic, the Cabo sailfish generally travel alone or in small groups. They seem to feed mostly in mid-water along the edges of reefs or current eddies.

The Cabo Pacific Sailfishs’ exceptional feature is the high, long first dorsal fin, which is slate or cobalt blue with a scattering of black dots. The second dorsal fin is very small.

Cabo Deep Sea Fishing Mahi-Mahi

Cabo Mahi-mahi in Cabo San Lucas are acrobatic and fast game fish with remarkable colors. Mahi-mahi sides are golden with shimmering blues and greens, and their belly is yellow and white. These colors can change quickly, excited mahi-mahi “light up”, and dying mahi-mahi often turn silvery over-all with blue spots on the flanks. These colors blacken when the fish dies

Mahi-mahi are also recognized as a dolphin fish or a dorado fish. However, they’re not at all related to dolphins. Mahi-mahi are water-breathing fish, while dolphins are air-breathing mammals.
