Cabo is often called the “Marlin Capital of the World.” Fishing in Cabo is a year-round sport that attracts thousands of anglers from around the world. For experienced anglers or those who just love being on the water, Cabo fishing is a fun experience for all. Learn a little more about fishing in Cabo below.

Species of Fish

There is no shortage of big-game fish in the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. Cabo is home to marlin, tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi, snapper, roosterfish, dorado, and more.

Lots of these fish come in monster sizes, so Cabo frequently sets and breaks world records. A giant marlin was caught 2011 after a 28-hour long battle with anglers. 2012 saw a record-breaking tuna weighing in at about 420 pounds.

Tournaments

Cabo is home to some of the largest fishing tournaments in the world. Tournament season begins in late June and runs into November. In just a few months, Cabo will open up its fishing season with monthly tournaments. In June, there will be the Annual Stars and Stripes Fishing and Golf Tournament as well as Bacs Billfish Invitational Tournament.

July will also see lots of tournaments such as the Surf and Panga Roosterfish Klassic Tournament.

A fun way to experience fishing in Cabo is through a tour. If you’re not looking to compete in a tournament and just want to have fun with friends, a fishing tour in Cabo is for you.
